On the boards: October 2015

On each one of our hack nights (full schedule here) Code for Greensboro works on a wide range of projects. Here's what we're working on now.

Findit is an update of Finda (http://codeforboston.github.io/finda/). We launched our own instance of Finda a few months ago, but elected to make some changes—and made our own brand new project along the way. We wanted to expand the types of data we could track with it and improve the way it works on mobile and tablet devices. Findit is a Node project. You can find the code here.

City Voice is a place-based system for garnering feedback from residents on a variety of municipal subjects—essentially, a digital augmentation of the town hall meeting. We're working on deploying City Voice for Greensboro, and we're looking for ways to pilot the program. Join us at a hacknight to work on City Voice.

Other ways to help

Want to pitch in a get a feel for the work we do? Code for America, our parent organization, maintains this list of open issues across all brigades. These are a great way to look around and get the hang of working within a brigade. Fork, fix, and make a pull request!

Pitch us your idea!

The best way to find something you love to work on? Pitch a project idea at a hacknight. (And you could always come to Civicon 15 to get the full civic hacking experience.)

Our next hacknight is October 28th, 2015 at HQ Greensboro. RSVP now to join us.
